Tamarind Chutney

About This Project

Ingredients :

 

1/2 Cup seedless tamarind

1/2 cup seedless dates

1/2 cup grated or powdered jaggery (adjust as per taste)

2 cups water

1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder

1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon dry ginger powder

1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder

Salt to taste

 

Instructions:

  1. Finely chop the tamarind and dates.

 

  1. In a pan add the tamarind, dates and water. Cook for about 8-9 mins on low flame till they soften.

 

  1. Add the powdered jaggery and continue to cook.Let the jaggery dissolve and the mixture thicken a bit.
  2. Add all the spices powder- red chilli powder, coriander powder, dry ginger powder and roasted cumin powder.

 

  1. Stir and simmer for 1-2 mins more. Season with salt. Let the mixture cool down.

 

  1. In a blender, grind the whole mixture till smooth. Add some water if required.

 

  1. Strain the chutney through a strainer. Store in refrigerator
